Footnote: The municipality of Málaga in Spain has a history spanning nearly 3,000 years making it one of the oldest inhabited cities in Western Europe. The Port of Malaga was founded around 770 BC by the Phoenicians, primarily from present-day Lebanon, and from 218 BC it was under Roman rule when the port was famous for minerals, almonds and wine. Its strategic location on the Mediterranean coast makes it an attractive location for tourism.
